How I want to use Obsidian
I want it to primarily facilitate creation. This might be vlogs, blogs, projects, schemes, gifts, etc. Since Brains are for having ideas, not holding them, being able to easily jot down ideas and surface them later is important to me. This is Obsidian's main strength.
I also don't want it to take over my life, so I want to use it for its strengths. Use Obsidian to track inspiration for what you'd like to do, and Todoist for managing tasks/projects themselves.
So a rough overview of ways to surface things in my Obsidian:
- Dashboards. Pages like 🍿 Media, 🏮 Aspirations, 🥘 Recipes , which aggregate media, experiences, hobbies and food I'd like to try. The point of these is to never be bored even if I can't think of what I'd like to do.
- #curation pages, like Facts, Banging meal and Digital gardens. These are pages which probably embed a search query in them, like dashboards, but are less structured (ie they aggregate information in files, rather than aggregating individual notes themselves along with metadata).
- #blog s, which are ideas for blogs or completed blogs.
For my own self development, I have some other tags that I don't necessarily want to share.
- #observation is just stuff I've noticed, often about myself.
- #reflection is realisations about me by me
- #advice is advice from others that hits deep
