Talks about The loss of monoculture. Argues it's more difficult to connect with people nowadays because there is little collective awareness of music, films, games, etc. All of our interests (and attention) have become increasingly narrowed to the point where it's difficult to find someone who shares your interests without connecting to them online. This is something I felt to be true years ago when listening to Dungeons and Daddies, where it's clear that some of their chemistry comes from consuming the same media growing up. Netflix and news feeds probably destroyed this central source of media which we could all easily consume and bond over.
I'd like to create monocultures by curating things I enjoy and sharing the curations of others. This podcast motivates me to spend more time capturing and recommending stuff on my Digital garden.
