How I find new music to listen to
Fuck mysterious algorithmic newsfeeds. Mine have never been very good to me anyway. Human curation is the way.
When I want something new, I get an album from one of:
- Recommendations from people in real life. The best possible source. A warp gate through the space of media to a new galaxy.
- RateYourMusic, best albums by decade for pop, or esoteric for something different.
When I want something only slightly new, I get an album I like, then I trawl Wikipedia for that album/artist, find their influences, and give them a try.
